At The Hall, Years 7 and 8 provide a distinctive and enriching period of prep school education, designed to support boys at an important stage in their academic and personal development. Each year, we welcome a small number of boys into Year 7 (11+), giving them the opportunity to benefit from two years of careful preparation, stretch and enrichment before moving on to their next senior school.

Boys join us in year 7 (11+) for a variety of reasons, including:

• Boys holding conditional places at leading London senior schools, where entry is at Year 9 (13+), who will benefit from additional challenge and broad enrichment
• Boys considering top boarding schools at 13+ seeking a well-rounded foundation
• Boys relocating from international schools who would benefit from a smooth adjustment into UK education system
• Boys seeking the breadth of enrichment opportunity, confidence and independence encouraged during Years 7 and 8 at The Hall

When and How to register

Each year in early February, we welcome a small number of applicants to sit our 11+ assessment for entry into Year 7 the following September.

Parents wishing their son to be considered for the 11+ assessment (in the academic year in which he turns eleven) need to complete the registration form using the link below. Please return the completed form to the Registrar, l.richards@hallschool.co.uk, along with:

• A copy of your son’s birth certificate
• Confirmation of the £180 registration fee (non‑refundable, inclusive of VAT)

Once received, our Registrar, Lucy Naylor, will confirm your application and provide a “further details” form to complete.
