A Lasting Legacy

A Lasting Legacy Left

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others…

A legacy is one of the simplest and most flexible ways of making a significant contribution to the future of The Hall and may allow you to support the school in a way you could not during your lifetime. The tax benefits of a legacy gift to a charity are considerable – all such bequests can be made free from Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax, so you could reduce the total tax burden levied on your estate to your family.

Making a legacy pledge to The Hall is quite straightforward. It can be done either when making a will for the first time or, by adding a codicil to an existing will.

In 2016 we launched The Wathen Society to recognise and thank any member of The Hall community who chooses to include the school in their will. The list of members is not published but we will make sure that they are kept in touch with the school and have regular opportunities to meet the Headmaster, Governors and of course our current boys.

The Wathen Society

If you would like to become a member of our legacy society or receive further information about making a legacy pledge, please contact development@hallschool.co.uk. All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The Annual Campaign

Each year, as the Year 8 pupils come to the end of their time at the school, we invite their parents to consider donating the remaining balance of their £1000 registration deposit as a leaving gift to The Hall

Since the start of this programme in 2015, our parents have been extremely generous and over £130,000 has been raised in this way making a substantial contribution to our bursary and development funds.
