At the end of Year 8 our boys leave us to move on to a range of very good senior schools. The majority of the boys will move on to a London day school; around twenty to twenty-five boys commonly join St Paul’s and Westminster each year. Other popular schools include City of London, Merchant Taylors’ and Habs. Eton, Winchester, Harrow, Tonbridge, Haileybury and Radley are popular choices for those boys who wish to board. The Hall has an excellent track record of gaining both academic and music awards. Boys do not sit any public examinations including SATs, GCSEs or A levels. A series of Standardised Assessments are sat throughout the School.
The vast majority of the boys will have received an offer in Year 6 or 7 for entry to a senior school in Year 9. Increasingly many of the offers are unconditional with boys sitting exams in the June of Year 8. Some boarding schools still require certain Common Entrance Exams to be sat.
For 2023 the destination schools for the leavers were as follows: Bedales (1), Brighton College (1), City of London (4), Dulwich (1), Eton (7), Habs (1), Haileybury (1), Merchant Taylors’ (3), Mill Hill (3), St Paul’s (9), Tonbridge (1), UCS (1), Westminster (17), Winchester (1).
The 2022 leavers moved on to the following schools: City of London (6), Eton College (7), Haberdashers’ Aske’s (2), Harrow (1), Highgate (1), Marlborough (1), Marylebone Boys’ (1), Merchant Taylors’ (3), Mill Hill (2), Radley College (1), St Paul’s (13), UCS (5), Westminster (6), Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill (1).
In 2021, places were won at Aldenham (2), Brighton College (1), City of London (9), Eton College (2), Haberdashers’ Aske’s (1), Haileybury (3), Harrow School (1), Highgate (1), Merchant Taylors’ (3), Mill Hill (1), St. Paul’s (9), St George’s (1), UCS (5), Westminster (14).
2020 proved to be a highly successful year with the Year 8 moving on to a range of schools: St Paul’s 14, Westminster 8, City of London 7, Mill Hill 4, Eton College 2, Wetherby 2, Haileybury 1, Harrow 1, Magdalen College 1, Sevenoaks 1, Tonbridge 1.
Our pupils started in September 2019 at the following schools: St Paul’s 13, Westminster 12, Eton College 9, UCS 6, Mill Hill 4, Harrow 2, City of London 1, Highgate 1, John Lyon 1, Merchant Taylors’ 1, Oundle 1, Sevenoaks 1, Winchester 1.
In 2018 our pupils joined the following schools: Westminster 14, Mill Hill 7, St Paul’s 7, Eton College 5, UCS 5, Acland Burghley 1, City of London 1, Haileybury 1, Harrow 1, Highgate 1, Institute Le Rosey 1, King’s Canterbury 1, Merchant Taylors’ 1, Merchiston 1, Tonbridge 1, Winchester 1. Three academic awards were gained including a Queen’s Scholarship at Westminster.
