Congratulations to our two Quiz Club General Knowledge teams, who came 1st & 4th out of the seven teams present in the heats here at The Hall yesterday.  The visiting team from Connaught House School led for most of the competition but a stunning final round from our team of Sam, Gabriel, Lucian & Theo pipped them to the post with a final total of 1665 points out of 2000, securing their place in the final in Oxford this summer. The 2nd team comprising Tim, Arhaan, Talha and Aydin scored 1495 and was placed 4th overall. Well done to all participants!

Nine different woodwind, brass, jazz and string ensembles comprising Year 4 and 5 pupils performed to a very appreciative audience of parents and friends on Wednesday evening, entertaining us with a wide variety of jazz and classical music as well as some old favourites. Thanks to the students for all the rehearsals they must have put in to achieve such high standards, and to the brilliant music department and peripatetic teachers for their unflagging commitment to music at The Hall!

This year’s Latin Reading Competition Finals saw 75 students from Years 6, 7 & 8 competing for the top prizes in a MS Hall packed with encouraging parents. Some top notch performances in all the competitions meant our visiting judge had some difficult decisions to make. Well done to all involved.

We are excited to be partnering with HomeRun, a free school travel app that will help us understand how everyone at The Hall gets to school… and so improve travel for parents, pupils, staff and local residents. Members of The Hall community can sign up using this secure registration form for a limited period: https://user.homerun-app.com/launch/ths9948

Hockey season got off to a brusque start this week in rather cold conditions with two good competitive fixtures against Arnold House.

We end the term on a positive note in terms of the senior school development, as the new build classrooms on top of the Wathen Hall take shape. The curved roof structure is clearly established now and we look forward to the new roof being added in the Spring….

It was marvellous to see so many former pupils and their parents, as well as former and current Hall staff at a drinks reception in mid-December…. judging by the noisy chat, everyone enjoyed catching up on the news and making plans to meet up again….. but just when did these chaps get so tall?!

Last night’s HSPA Quiz Night marked a stunning social finale to the term! A massive marquee set up at the Wilf Slack Playing Fields hosted over 20 parent and staff teams through 7 gruelling rounds of challenging questions devised by the Headmaster. Competition between parents and school staff was as fierce as ever, but the winning team achieved a resounding victory. Huge thanks to parents for supporting the Bursary Fund in this way.

The Parish Church of St Marylebone was the glorious setting for our Service of Lessons and Carols on Wednesday, attended by Senior and Middle school students, staff and parents. The chapel choir led the singing beautifully and readers shared the traditional nine lessons reminding us of the nativity story.

Many thanks to everyone who supported participants in the Regent’s Park Cycle on 10th December! So great to see school staff, familiar faces from the Tour de Godwin team and some Hall families whizzing around the Inner Circle… some pupils even managed 33k before heading off to football matches! All in support of the work of the Family Support team at The Winch.
