The 8th Hampstead

The Hall School has its own cub and scout group, founded in 1923 – The 8th Hampstead. The group, for boys aged 8 to 13, meets every Wednesday evening at school in term time and boys take part in weekend activities as well as a summer camp.

There are usually some vacancies for boys to join the cubs’ group at the Hall (ages 8-10 years). At meetings, boys learn various life skills such as navigation and crafts through the working towards and award of badges. Through games and activities in which the boys are vertically grouped, they get to know each other and also have an opportunity to go on a one night camp if they wish. Meetings are both learning and social occasions. On turning 10 years old, the boys are invited to join the Scout group which offers a wider variety of activities and challenges (camps, sailing).
