Boys at The Hall take part in Physical Education lessons and Games from the time they begin their education at The Hall until they leave. The aim of the Physical Education department is to support the initial learning of foundation skills and to encourage their development through regular practice, thus enabling all boys to participate in many sports.
In Reception boys start to acquire and practise basic skills through fun games and activities. In addition to three sessions of outdoor sport each week they have a Gymnastics lesson in the hall. In Years 1 -3 the Junior School boys have a gymnastics lesson and two outdoor sports lessons. The Year 3 boys utilise the school sports ground for their Friday afternoon Games session.
Boys enjoy two afternoons of Games a week throughout their time in the Middle and Senior Schools. They progress to playing matches of football, cricket, tennis, hockey and rugby against other schools in which they have ample opportunities to hone their developing skills, to enjoy sport and be encouraged towards lifelong participation. Each week an indoor Physical Education lesson complements the Games afternoons, during which boys are introduced to and learn new sports.
