Now in its eighth academic year, the first Saturday Club of the term got underway with 60 Year 5 and 6 children taking part.
The Hall’s flagship venture uses the Skills Builder programme to teach specific learning skills such as listening, presenting and problem-solving to the students through a range of subjects that include Oracy, Maths, Science, History and the Arts.
“The overarching goal of Saturday Club is to inspire and widen education opportunities for selected students from our partnership schools, preparing them for the transition from Year 6 to Year7,” says Ann Cross, The Hall’s Community Partnership Manager.
The day began with a welcome breakfast with parents, then commenced with fun icebreakers, and an introduction to the teachers of the program. Year 6 was introduced to the enterprise challenge, a project that requires students to put into practice the skills they have learned throughout their time at Saturday Club.
“The Hall Saturday Club is an important contribution to the school’s partnership work,” Ann continues. “It is effectively driving educational change by increasing opportunity and inspiring collaboration and mutual understanding in ways that are transformative and meaningful.”
Past Saturday Club students from partnership primary schools have gone on to excel at Highgate School, Christ’s Hospital, the BRIT School, and Channing School.
