The recent release of the Tatler Schools Guide 2025 showcases The Hall as a top London prep school, citing a reputation to welcome the “capital’s brightest”.
“The whole community here was sad to see the departure of head Chris Godwin, who retired at the end of the last academic year. His ‘vision to educate kind, considerate and curious boys’, as one parent puts it, had been consistently praised over his 11-year tenure. So, what’s next for this north London day school, which welcomes some of the capital’s brightest and has a three-to-one application-to-place ratio? (After an hour’s assessment during a group ‘play date’, around 50 are selected for reception every year.) Well, Carl Rycroft – who joins after nine years as head of Buckinghamshire prep Davenies School – will no doubt be inspired to reach for the stars by the school’s motto of hinc in altiora, or ‘from here to higher things.”
This feature comes at a time when all 49 of our 2024 leavers have gone on to some the best senior schools in the country.
