On the first Monday of term, Mr. Rycroft began the week by spotlighting one of The Hall School’s values: to endeavour. In the morning assembly, he encouraged boys to think about participating and building resilience through this value.
“When we say endeavour at The Hall it means we do our best to keep trying” says Mr. Rycroft during assembly.
Values are at the heart of life at The Hall. Values provide the framework to the way pupils live and interact with each other in the school community, and guides how they learn.
“The Hall School’s values are crucial. Fostering endeavour in the pupils helps them to develop valuable learning habits such as determination and perseverance” Mr. Rycroft told the assembly.

Aveer, Year 2, tells how he’s guided by the value.
“I am always trying my best” he says during late club on Wednesday. “Especially during football when playing against older years.”
Aveer proudly shows his ‘School Council’ badge which he was awarded at the beginning of term. As a School Councillor he will run discussions and collect ideas with his class to help develop the school. In previous sessions, School Councillors have explored what it means to be a supportive teacher and a good pupil–always using school values as their guide.

Deputy Head of the Junior School, Mrs. Bonham Carter, explains that this term School Councilors “will help their classes learn about all the important adults they might need to talk to and where to find them in the Junior School. They will also be on the lookout for children who need help in the playground, making sure that everyone is able to access what they need during playtimes for their year group.”
Aveer is excited about trying his best within his new role, not only for himself, but for the school.
