On Tuesday, Year 1 boys had an enthralling experience meeting unique animals. Smiles were all around as snakes, tarantulas, millipedes, scorpions, and frogs were shown to them during a zoo workshop. They got to learn about the environment the animals lived in, why it’s important to care for animals, and what makes these animals so unique!
Miss Lisa Blair, the Head of Year 1, explains all the wonder:
“Linking in with Year 1’s Topic this term, Around the World, we had an exciting visit from a variety of animals from around the world! A workshop leader brought in a scorpion called Darth Vadar, a snail called Dash, as well as a cockroach, treefrog, corn snake and millipede. We learnt about their unique physical features and the different habitats and countries they can be found in. The boys loved stroking, holding or waving at them as they were each introduced to us. Don’t worry – we didn’t touch the scorpion!”
The around the world lessons have taken boys from London, to France, China, Australia, and Brazil. They have tickets for Kenya, the USA, and Antartica in the next coming weeks! They’ve certainly been on an adventure.
